Dear 186th Street Parents:
"Today well-lived makes every yesterday a
dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope."
During the summer, our school family dealt
with a crisis situation in losing one of our staff members. Margarita Roa
(Mago), our School Supervision Aide, was in a car accident traveling to Austin,
Texas for a family vacation and met an untimely death. She leaves to
cherish her beautiful memory, a devoted husband, three loving children, and a
host of caring relatives and friends.
I am happy to inform you that Mr. Roa is
home from the hospital and has been reunited with his children to take one day
at a time as they heal physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Many of our students did not know about the
crisis, so they will learn about it this week. The School Psychologist and
the District crisis team will be available for our school to assist our students
if they are in need. Please keep the Roa family in your thoughts, prayers,
and well wishes.
To celebrate Margarita's memory and
dedicated services to the boys and girls at 186th Street, students may save 186
"Pennies for Mago", if they would like. The funds will be used to purchase
a reading bench for the playground to celebrate her memory. A flyer will
come home in the next week. Please feel free to address any question or
concerns to the Healthy Start Office (310) 324-2305.
Sincerely,
Marcia S. Reed
Principal
