I am happy to tell you that 186th
Street School won a national award at the Peace Games National
Conference in Boston, MA held June
30th - July 2nd. The award was
given to us for our parent and community involvement. In the award
presentation, they spoke fondly of the Toyota partnerships, the Toyota
engineers teaching our students, the Peace March, the Hahn Peace Task
Force, and our positive relationships with community leaders. One big
reason we received the award was our thinking out of the box to open the
playground during the spring vacation. We were able to take two
teachers, our Peace Games Coordinator, and the Healthy Start Coordinator
to the conference. 186th
Street was well represented on the East Coast and you would have been so
proud.
We are well on our way to being an official California Distinguished
School. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our staff and community
for their valuable contributions in helping us promote a peaceful school
with a focus on scholars and leaders. With your fantastic support, we
are building rock solid leadership!
Hoot...Hoot...Hooray!

P.S. The program is a great program.
