186th Street School Elementary
Library
Reading good books is an important part of each
child's education. Recreational reading helps to maintain and
strengthen reading skills and broaden children's regular instructional
program. children should be encouraged to read quality library
books which can be a source of enjoyment and enrichment.
With this worthwhile purpose in mind we would
like to extend our pupils opportunities for reading by allowing them to
borrow books from our school library. Students may keep books for
one week, renewable for a second week. Since our library
collection is not a large one, only one book is allowed at a time.
Parents are asked to reimburse the school for lost or damaged books.
For Children Taking School Library Books Home:
-
Books can't wash their faces so don't leave
dirty finger marks on them!
-
Always use a book mark to mark where you
stopped reading.
-
Open books gently; rough handling can break the
stitching in their backs.
-
Turn the pages from the top. This will
prevent pages from being torn at the bottom.
-
Wet weather doesn't agree with books.
Protect them.
-
Dogs think books are grand to chew. Give
them a dog bone instead.
-
Keep books away from the babies. They
like to tear pages out or scribble with crayons on them.
